OK. I've succumbed and got myself an Android phone. Rather than use the native email and worrying about synchronising with my desktop, I'm trying out gmail which will give me a view of the same mailbox from all of my devices. And I'm doing it with my original email address that I've had for many years so don't have to change that.
It seemed that a reply or two that I made from the phone didn't get through, although the new test message obviously did - and so did one I sent from the desktop this morning. One of the great unsolved mysteries of our time...
