P.s.
Here is a link to a book on Erwitt -note cover shot :-)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/050054025X/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_all
The photo was shot for an ad... definitely previsualization... he had
the cyclist go back and forth 30 times.. going for a particular mark
on the road.. I'm too lazy to type the whole paragraph.
I've had that book for some time...
As an aside, a print of the photo next to it ... the mother and
child... was given to the husband of a friend of mine who is a
cinamatographer and worked with Erwitt on a short or commerical or
something -- this was umm probably 30 years ago... A really nice large
print
that they framed beautifully.. when I saw it and saw it ws dedicated
"to Carl.. etc... I did the "oh Wow"... recognizing it (its in
the Family of Man, but you guys probably know that) . Here is the sad
part... my friend's comment when I oozed delight was
"Oh that was somebody Carl worked with... "
That marriage ended in divorce.

I'm totally against the death penalty (sorry for starting a political thread).
But in the case of the person who colourized this photo:

I say, "string him up!"
When I was answering Darren Addy on another thread, I was looking for
a proper rendition of this masterpiece to tack onto my reply. When
doing a Google search I came across this (there were a few others that
were colourized, too).
Why would anyone do this?
Why?
I'm outraged.
<rant over>
