Toronto's Western Beaches used to feature a large amusement park that lasted until about the 1950s. All that remains is a glorious Art Nouveau/Neo-classical structure, the Sunnyside Bathing Pavillion. It was originally a change facility for bathers in Lake Ontario, but due to cold water temperatures, they later built a large swimming pool adjacent to it. Both structures still exist, although the Pavilion is a bit the worse for wear these days.
I was walking in the area last weekend (a rather grey day, so the light - while diffuse - wasn't great). I guess it chronicles a grey, blustery late winter day at the Western Beaches: http://knarfdummyblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/sunnyside-bathing-pavillion.html Please note: two images, including detail of the portico in glorious living colour. ;-) Hope you enjoy.
