Hi, I am an amateur living in Budapest, mostly shooting for it's joy. Recently I just had some pictures published and also earned my first pennies with it. That seems to be enough justification to consider moving up to MF.
As some of the recent postings regarding the 645, comparison of 35mm and MF have provided me with a lot of useful information, I still have some question marks which I hope to be erased by you. I am a 35 mm Pentax user with KX, SuperA, MESuper bodies and a set of manual focus prime lenses. In most cases I shoot on the field/street, mountains, hikes. AF seems to be a feature, which I can live without for a while. I have a few experience with TLRs, and although I have some decent shots on B&W it does not seem to fit my current shooting style. Also, I like to project my slides, where the 6x4.5 format seems to be more affordable in the MF branch. As a 645N(II) system is fairly out of my current budget (Unless Pal will struggle so much to sell the N, that he gives it away at a special price) I am considering investing into a used manual focus 645 system, including a body and 2 or 3 lenses (possibly 45, 75, 150 mm) - I have seen a used 645 with 75 mm and grip for 1025 Euros and a 150/3.5 for 459 Euros at a German site. What do you think regarding these prices? Unfortunately there is nothing available in Hungary. - What is that grip for the 645 isn't it standard on the body? - Is there anything to look at or test when buying the camera used? - Is the mirror dampening mechanism worse on the 645 than on the N or NII? (Noise?) I plan to handhold it most of the time. - Do you have any experience regarding optical quality differences between older (manual focus) and newer lenses, especially the 150? - In case I decide to buy newer AF lenses (for an easier later upgrade to AF) how do the AF lenses work when manual focusing?
