True, but lets not forget that Canon managed this. They used 20 years to 
break into the pro market. Back when they started out with pro pretensions 
they sold significantly fewer cameras than Pentax. There's no doubt that 
Canon had a long term market strategy and now benefit more than anyone else 
from the pro association. Pentax seems to lack any long term commitments 
and seems to think that the customer will automatically come to the product.

Perhaps, but I still think that market for fine connoisseur AF equipment 
exist. Hell, fine equipment in general. Now that Leica is bailing out and 
Contax is reduced to producing plastic AF cameras and plastic AF lenses 
that's no better in any regard to the pedestrian things Canon are 
producing, there definitely is opening a market niche. Besides, Pentax can 
be far more competitive than Leica and Contax in both prices and the sheer 
size of the system. I really hope Pentax continue to expand the Limited and 
FA* lenses and make matching bodies.
