I wouldn't consider a camera without some kind of quality eye-level viewfinder. The Ricoh GV-2 accessory finder is excellent for the A12 28mm lens, and they also offer an excellent VF-2 EVF which is on par with the Panasonic and Olympus EVFs by the specs. I'll have one soon, I'm sure, and can report on that too. > Most of the P&S-type cameras also have piss-poor shutter lag, but I don't > know what that's like on the Ricoh. AF focus speed is pretty good, although I'm not a great judge because I rarely think about it. Configured as I just described in response to Cotty with the FP Snap setting on or in manual focus, it's very responsive in all situations. MUCH faster than the GR1 was .. that was my biggest issue with the GR1, too much shutter lag (although it was better by far than the Nikon 35Ti I had at the same time). The 28mm EFL field of view on the APS-C sensor means you have a lot of DoF to work with for Snap focusing. > These are among the reasons why I and so many others are so excited about > the X100. On the X100, everything just seemed too cramped up and close together for me. Trying to quickly adjust the aperture, I'd grab the focus ring and miss the aperture ring's two finger pads. I tried to roll the shutter selector and rolled the EV compensation instead. I dont seem to have these kinds of issues on the GXR .. everything is still small but falls in the right place when I reach for it, and stays out of the way when I am not. -- Godfrey godfreydigiorgi.posterous.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
