Last night I went to my local camera store and rescued a black KX that had been in the Used Pentax case for months. $180 in fine working condition.
All I can say it, "Ahhhh!" My only SLR experience has been my three Super Programs. Finally I have... - aperture visible in the viewfinder in all modes -- a bright viewfinder that doesn't have a dark split-image RF patch in the way when I'm trying to focus my 400/5.6 or 700/6.3 (500/4.5 + 1.4X) -- mirror lockup (MLU), that works with the self-timer and stops down the aperture -- a body that barely vibrates, even when not using MLU -- a moving-needle that continuously floats to show me how the light is changing, without needing to be refreshed every 20 seconds. Manual exposure isn't that hard, after all. I'll be writing (and asking) more about this black beauty as I gain experience. My thanks to everyone whose comments on the KX and MLU in the archives and offline helped make my decision easy.
