I watched a Eurovision song contest broadcast just once - when I was living in Germany... I believe I saw ABBA do "Waterloo" but I was pretty young at the time so I'm not 100% sure. I do remember that song being EVERYWHERE after that win, though. My my. I shudder to think of what an American entry to this contest would be like.
