We had an update from EQC today and I thought the numbers might be interesting.
12,000 homes have >$100k of damage (EQC covers the first $100k, the rest is handled by private insurance). 8,000 homes are "severely damaged" and may be over >$100k depending on full inspections to be completed out by mid-July. 40,000 homes moderately damaged, full inspection to be completed by mid September 120,000 homes with minor damage, full inspection to be completed by mid December For all the earthquake activity since September they've received 304,768 claims, 119,369 of which are for 22 Feb. I think most households will have one claim for each. The local newspaper has a feature series that's just started which is giving us a bit of info about the 1989 San Francisco earthquake and their experiences of rebuilding. I read the first part on Saturday. Quite interesting, especially some of the advice they were giving. A number of our city councillors are travelling over there and I hope they pay attention.
