Sold my A35/2 last week and today picked up the FA28/2.8.
Nice sharp lens. So much better than any M/A that I've had.

are you saying the FA28/2.8 is better glass than the A 28/2.8, or are
you just happy to have the autofocus?

It's been a while since using an A28/2.8, but I've had multiple M28/2.8 samples.
Apart from the coatings, M& A lenses are often identical.
All were mediocre at best. (It's what the "M" stood for, I recall. :-) )
The FA is much better. imnsho.

thanks -- just wasn't sure how to read your original comment

i took note because i've been looking for a f/<=2.8 in the 20-28mm range, functionally at least an A-type, and i somewhat prefer manual focus, so the A28/2.8 has seemed to be a candidate; the FA28 is probably too expensive for me, barring a windfall, and i see that it has a wimpy focus ring; i'm tempted by the Tamron 24/2.5 as i did have a recent windfall of a PK/A Adaptall
