Interesting - thanks for posting.

Whether the Thylacine is really extinct is questioned from time to time.
 There are numerous people who claim to have seen one in the Tasmanian
wilderness but no one has provided documentary evidence of their
existence - yet.  It's very sad.  The animal was the top level predator
in Tasmania when Europeans arrived but it had the unfortunate habit of
getting an easy meal by way of farmers' livestock.  The fact that there
is quite a lot of suitable habitat and potential food still available in
Tasmania makes it just possible that it still exists, but it's probably
unlikely.
