Exactly my point. I bought the hood, because it was cheap and fitted, then found that the front spun like a windmill in a force 9. Kicked myself all the way back along the Trans-Siberian railway. (NBG = no bloody good) Exactly the same syndrome with the lens. I asked for it at a local shop; to my utter astonishment, they went out the back and brought one in. Glass is clear, mechanics are good, cosmetics are acceptable. At �75 it was patently a steal so I bought it immediately.
