Subject: GESO - Monuments and Memorials, Washington DC
I visited Washington DC last March and took a few snapshots of the various
monuments, memorials, and other landmarks. Camera of choice was an IR
converted K-10d.
The weather did not cooperate much. I had a day to myself while my wife was in
a
conference, and I used it to walk around the mall. A clear and sunny morning
devolved into a cloudy day with cold misty rain. I took some shots of the
Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. The final images were so flat I
'hand painted' them in photo shop to give them a little life. Sloppy work on
the
hand painting if I say so myself.

The US Capitol was way back lit in the early morning when the skies were clear.
I
took gobs of shots and bracketed like mad, thinking I should find some HDR
software and try to do something useful with the images. I would up getting
Photomatix and, of course, went for the extreme grunge look on the first try:

I paint what I see... OK - a more subtle approach, again HRD / IR and BW -

A couple of plain IR shots processed through the Photomatix software with the
red / blue channel swap - ""Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty" a.k.a.

And lastly, the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center:

Thanks for looking -
