I'd try burning a second identical roll and putting it through another lab
too.

The spacing looks okay to the naked eye. The lab always seem to cut the
negs between 21 and 22 and I can't believe they cut the negs before doing
the prints. I'd have said it was the lab but out of 4 rolls that I took in
on Sunday, the only roll with prints not having a black band on any of them
was taken with the LX. It was also a 36 where the others were 24, so maybe
that says nothing.

I'll go with Shel & Bill's suggestions
Burn a roll of 36 and see what happens
Do the same with a 24 and ask the lab not to cut the negs
