downtown Denver's only about 15 minutes away from Golden (also 15 minutes closer to the airport, nearer a lot of other amenities and much more accessible by mass transit); Golden's biggest advantage is it is that much closer to the mountains; one can imagine the earlier choice being made by a key executive who wanted a shorter commute from the mountain suburbs
