I agree. We're just consumers, users of products with Ricoh and Pentax
brand names.

If that's true, then both Pentax and Ricoh are dead already.

Remember that Pentax Imaging is not a "company" anymore. Pentax
Imaging is a bundle of assets ... a brand name, products,
technologies, design expertise, etc ... that Ricoh is purchasing.
Ricoh is a company, a successful one if its $25 Billiion market cap is
any indication, even if they might now say what's going to happen in a
year, certainly has a plan for what they want do with the assets they
just paid $100 Million dollars for. So they certainly have a plan in
mind. Whether things go the way their current plan is organized is a
question mark, but successful companies are very good at modifying
plans to deal with changes in the market environment.
