I've always kept valve stem caps on all my vehicles valve stems for the
simple reason they come with the car & they might prevent a slow air leak
thru the stem.
A car talk show I was listening to recently talked about the need for the
caps from the standpoint that getting water & crud into the stem might
damage the tire pressure sensor in the stem of some vehicles that are a part
of the gov't required tire pressure sensing system.
