Hi Robert,
Congratulations! What is your new daughter's name?
...and a bunch more questions...
Anyway, there seems to be quite a variance of
preferences for B&W materials among the highly capable
members of the PDML, and their results can be viewed
on the PUG every month. I have been using Ilford HP5+
and developing it in Hutchins PMK, which is a bit
tricky to get used to. My students have been using
the Ilford with Kodak D-76, and with usually fine
results. Kodak has refined its TRI-X 400 speed film
in the last few years, and I have begun to use it for
personal work again, but I'm in still in the learning
curve with that. PDML stalwarts make a good case for
TRI-X and D-76.
Let me know how it goes, post some pictures on the
list and I'm sure there will be many valuable opinions
offered by various members who have much more
experience in portaiture than I.
Best wishes,
Bob
