Thanks. The exhibition is excellent - very interesting. I don't think it's
something you could enter - it's taken from the collection of the Museum of
London. It traces street photography in London from the first days of
photography up to the present. Because it's drawn from their collection it's
not a comprehensive collection of everyone who's ever taken a snap in London
(no HCB or Robert Frank, for example), but it's a good opportunity to
promote the practice, and to see how it developed over the years.

There are quite a few pictures and photographers I was not previously aware
of, who are really excellent. Others, such as Paul Martin, I know but it's
great to have the chance to see some of their prints.

It was quite a thrill to see an original of this well-known Victorian photo:

but I was amazed at how small it is. But such detail in the original.

More parochially, it's fun to spot places you know in the Victorian and
Edwardian periods, and to see how they've changed.

The only bad point is that it is a lot of pictures packed into a relatively
small space, so they have put the captions & notes very low beneath the
pictures. You often have to bend down and contort yourself to read what they
have to say, especially if you need reading glasses, and it infuriated me. I
asked the person at the counter if they'd had a lot of complaints about
that; she rolled her eyes as if it was the thousandth time she'd heard it.
