Like most of you, I loved the rangefinder styling of the Fuji X100, but I certainly had no *need* for it, especially at it's current price tag.
Recently I "discovered" a relatively unknown little film rangefinder that fits the fill quite nicely for substantially less money: The Minolta Minoltina AL-S. Originally selling for around $90 (in the mid-60s) the Minoltina AL-S was the top-of-the-line with a Rokkor 40mm f1.8 lens, coupled rangefinder, and no battery. I have been looking and just found a nice working copy for $35, with original lens cap and case. Far smaller/lighter than the Yashica Electros. Here are a few links for those interested: http://mconnealy.com/vintagecameras/minoltina/index.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/7392884@N04/5254552893/in/faves-pixelsmithy/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rx52fZWWRg http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36938 My last three items in my Flickr photostream are ads (from Life and Ebony magazine in 1965 & 1966 respectively) and a quote from a book on Minolta. More (no doubt) after mine arrives. Anyone ever had one of these?
