Charles - thanks for the offer!
I got it covered now - someone is sending me a loaner already.
Yeah I don't think I'll get quite that much on ebay :-)

Now, in my infinate lack of wisdom, I couldnt resist picking up
an old DSLR in the local thrift for $15.00 an OLYMPUS D600L - because I

cute)
Seeing that it had (what I thought it had) was a slot for a CF card and worked
on AA batteries I figured I could check it out and sell it for a
small profit as a working collectable. Then I tried to put a CF card in it. Since
learned it not only _takes_ a "smart media card" but won't work at all without
it.
So as unlikely as this might be, does anyone have the required smart media card
that I could borrow to see if the golden oldy works?
The smart media cards are listed here and there on line but cost too much.
I'm sorry, I only have one and it's in an Olympus as well (the venerable
C4040Z).
I was amused/amazed at this review for your D600L which states that the retail
price for your cute little camera at one time was $1299!

If nobody has a spare SM card for ya, I could maybe loan you mine (can't cost
much to send in the post) but hopefully someone will have an extra for you so
we don't have to go that route.
