My problem is that Kodak insists that I purchase their film through a
reseller rather than directly. They keep saying, "You have to buy $X of
film yearly to buy direct," and we say, "We do, in fact we buy twice
that," they say, "Call us when you've been doing it for three years."
Well, now I have been doing it for longer, and they're still not
interested. I could probably move double what I do now if I had a
competitive price on the material, and if I had a competitive price I'd
stock more of the line (I only stock b&w film from Kodak now). Fuji, on
the other hand, recently bumped me from Regional Dealer status up to the
next level, because of how much film I sold last year. This means
further discounts and better/more frequent promotions on pro films. I
stock every pro film that Fuji market in North America except for duping
film, MS100/1000 and Provia 1600 (the last two because I feel that
Provia 400F is better than both of them at high speeds). And we've been
an Agfa Pro Point dealer since day one.

Thus, Fuji have convinced me to keep a deeper stock of their materials
(where I stocked 20 rolls before, now I stock 40 or 50). Meanwhile,
lack of Kodak colour film has pushed our sales of Kodak colour paper
down the toilet, so I'm now considering ditching it all together and
keeping a deeper stock of Fuji colour paper.

Kodak are not fun to deal with if you are a little guy. Also, what's
even more frustrating is that I have worked for two labs with far lower
film sales volumes than I have now, both of which had direct Kodak
accounts and reps.

Ah, the joy of the business world. I shall now stop ranting and finish
drinking my coffee. ;)
