Shel asked: > Did any manufacturer offer a bayonet mount earlier than the Leica?
and Graywolf answered: > Contax, Exakta, by a long time. I have no idea who was the first > company to have one. The Ihagee Kine-Exakta, first produced in 1936, was the world's first SLR to use the now-ubiquitous cine film cartridge with the 24mm by 36mm format. (I've got one of these -- still works pretty good, but the shutter gets a little temperamental during wintertime night photography.) So it would certainly be correct to say that this is the first 35mm SLR with a bayonet mount. Not sure if there were earlier, non-SLR, non-35mm bodies with interchangeable bayonet-mount lenses.
