They made it because it was easy and there are some who will take great delight in picking up a $50 M50.17 at KEH and have it be a really fast lens with a 275 fov. Even at that, it still won't be that big and you just throw it in a bag and pull it out on occasion. Anyone who buys this camera is the first place is having some fun. So overly serious measurebater would go near it anyway.
