Good point, Shel. I wish I had discovered Hewes reels twenty-five years
ago. Like you, I used Nikkor stainless reels for many years, and I
sometimes miswound them. But I read about Hewes reels here on the list and
bought a couple. They wind smoothly and effortlessly, and I have yet to do
a bad wind with a Hewes. I still use the Nikkors for 120 film, because the
120 film is either much easier to wind or the big Nikkor 120 reels hold
their shape better. I've never had a problem with these. But for 35mm I'll
never again use anything but a Hewes.
