Thanks for your comments, Christine. I am not trying to attract them to my yard. They pass though on their way from the woods on my west to the creek and corn fields to my southeast. They peck on the sun room windows, dig in our potted plants on the deck, and poop on our deck. They also search for seeds under the bird feeders and occasionally try to get up to one of the feeders and knock it down so they can empty it. What I was trying to do was to get a decent image of them. They generally run off when they see the camera. How do they know?
When I was 8 or 9, my grandfather, who had raised chickens for many years, tried to raise turkeys. They are filthy, nasty birds, much more difficult than chickens. He only did it that one year, and I was glad to see them all "adopted" at Thanksgiving time.
