Both sets of headphones I have (and it's probably just me) would let me hear 
all the way down to 30hz but absolutely nothing at 12 and 16khz.  I suppose 
that's just fine.

Will try it against my 21-year-old son's ears sometime and see if he complains 
about 12khz.  Probably.
