Speaking of Google weirdness... Background: I live in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. It's recognized by the post office as "Jamaica Plain" even though it's part of the city of Boston rather than a distinct city/town/village.
Anyway, if you ever browse through Google News you'll find the home page customizes itself for you based on your location - I assume it gets your IP address and looks up what city you're in - and gives you a little sidebar of local news. Only whenever I access Google News from home it shows me local news for... Jamaica.
