An update, for those interested...

I posted my question on the Pentax Facebook page the other day
(http://on.fb.me/pqqoiu), and today got this reply, from Pentax:

"Yes, the Custom Image or Image Finishing Tone information in the .DNG
file can be read in the PENTAX Digital Camera Utility Software but is
not accessible through Camera Calibration in Adobe Lightroom. The
ability to have this information available to other applications (like
Adobe Lightroom) has been submitted as a product enhancement request."

So there you go.

I suppose "The ability to have this information available to other
applications (like Adobe Lightroom) has been submitted as a product
enhancement request" means that a request has been submitted to the
powers that be at Pentax...?

Regardless, I was mildly surprised and happy to get a response. Maybe
these profiles will be available in the not too distant future...

Since reply refers to information embedded in the .DNG file, I would interpret the statement that Pentax made a request to Adobe.

.DNG is Adobe's file format. If the information is embedded in the .DNG, wouldn't it be up to Adobe to make it accessible in Lightroom?
