Thought some of you might be interested. The first one arrived in our local Jessops the other day. I've been thinking about this as a lightweight carry-around camera.
Must say, my initial impressions are good. It feels robust and has all of the features I'd need - fast zoom lens (f2.0 - 2.8), raw, optical VF and a nice retro look and feel. And it will fit in a jacket pocket too (the lens doesn't fully retract so probably not a shirt or hip pocket). So far as I can see, image quality is more than adequate. I'll only want it for web and up to A4 prints, although I reckon it could do better. It's slightly alarming to see the end of the lens in the optical VF at widest setting, but that's survivable I'm sure. They let me take it outside, but obviously not far afield and I just happened to have an SD card with me. Not very scientific as I didn't have a lot of time, but here are a few test pics - click to get the full sized jpeg and scroll to the bottom for Exif data: http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Fuji%20X10/ It's still top of my list; just need to decide whether to become an early adopter or wait until some of the inevitable bugs have been ironed out. Also there's no raw support in LR3 yet, so raw+jpeg would be necessary for the early days. Pricing in the UK is, as ever, somewhat high. At Jessops it's GBP 539 plus 70 quid for the leather ever-ready case. Argos has it for GBP 439 online only. Anyone else contemplating it?
