Yeah, I know there are better cameras out there, and I know that the

So I bought a Q.

Two weekends now. Progress report? Anything to show for it?

It's a nice little toy, that's for sure. I haven't spent much time with it yet, but a few things. It's a very nice camera to work with. It's very small, but it still has good ergonomics. As expected, high ISO performance isn't it's strong suit, but up to ISO 800 it's pretty good, and at base ISO in good light, there is nothing wrong with it. I only have the prime kit lens, which is very sharp, and seems relatively free from flare, though it certainly isn't up to the standard of the bigger SLR lenses. Where it really seems to excel is video. It's really easy to hold steady, has manual control, including focus and scales nicely to my HDTV. I suspect that all things considered it will be a flop in the marketplace, simply because people can't get past the small sensor and the big price. The small sensor does hobble it somewhat, the big price isn't something a person would understand until they've actually held one of the things and realized that it's built like a much more serious camera than it's size belies. Nothing feels cheap about it, but this is something that would be lost on most users who place their criteria elsewhere.
If I take pictures of anything other than my dog, I'll post them.
