Fun stuff. I'd guess that the meat purveyor is true southside, perhaps in the fifties or sixties, with the hot dog joint a bit north of there. The rest would be considered westside by most Chicagoans -- or at least by the Chicagoans I grew up with. I think the unofficial boundaries of the westside runrom about 22nd street on the south to North Avenue on the North and from around Ashland west to the city limits. Of course, like the eastside, those boundaries are just a result of the way people perceive things, never official. But no student at Austin High, where I once taught and which is about 600 north and about a mile east of Austin blvd. would ever have said they were northsiders. Ditto Harrison high at about 1200 south near California Avenue. Westside baby! :-)).
