I and various friends of mine have used borrowlenses.com many times now. It's a great way to have access to expensive equipment that you don't want to spend all the money on (because you use it too infrequently) or to try out equipment that you are considering buying. They can also help with travel: you need a bunch of stuff for a location you're traveling to, order the rental shipped there for you and fly without having to manage all the gear.
