Hi, Matt. I have the same problem with mine too. Under careful investigation I've found that this noise is produced by rubbing of aperture mechanism's closing spring against something (maybe lens barrel). This phenomenon has happened in strained state of that spring only: mounted lens (body holds aperture actuator on the lens in its down position). With my lens this has append only when aperture ring set to highest numerical value (16-32) - in this case more strain is applied to the spring.
Ok, enough theory ;o) How to fix it? I think it's better to leave as is (taking into account lens' price and technician work's one ;-) I have no problem with this though I use this lens frequently enough... My congratulations with your new MX (wow... only don't put on the shell all your other cameras like I've done ;o) and M135/3.5 lens, Good luck, Vlad P.S. I like the M135/3.5 lens - very sharp, compact, built in hood, etc. except it has harsh bokeh for my taste ;o( ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matt Bevers" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, March 05, 2002 01:33 Subject: Lens "clicks" when focusing > Hi all - just joined the list thanks to the recent purchase of an MX. > > I also just picked up an M 135/3.5 off Ebay, which appears to be in > excellent shape.
