My guess is that the offending email (text in the sidebar) was written by
someone whose native lengua is not English.
"who is not locking thir car car,
who is leaving the cars' keys in the lock,
who is leaving good presents on display in the car or inside the house,
or indeed
who is telling the newspaper shop they are going away!"
