Thank you, Ann!

I'm going to archive this email for future reference. I have a feeling I'll end up in Yellowstone before the trip is done, but will make it a point to take 212 if at all possible.

Many thanks for the tip! I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this trip. I grew up a Navy brat, so I saw a lot of the world, but over the past year and up to this summer, I will have seen more of the US than I have in my entire life leading up to it.

It's hard to express how fortunate I feel to have taken up photography as a pursuit when I did.

Thanks again!

Walt - try to find time to drive Up to Bear tooth Pass on route 212... that is south and west of Billings... if you continued along it, over the pass, you would end up in Yellowstone NP...
Photo ops abound. The pass should be open by late June.

Lots more interesting than Billings.

I drove from Yellowstone to Billings... slowly - lots of stops, so stayed Red Lodge right when you come down out of the mountain pass.

Hi all,

As of this moment, I have plans for a road trip to Billings, Montana in
late June or early July. The trip itself is going to be a bit of a dream
come true for me, as I've always wanted to see that part of the US. I'm
sure I'll encounter plenty of photo opportunities along the way, and
I'll be staying in the area for a week once I get there.

I don't know if there are any PDML'ers in that area, but I figure
someone among us has at least been there, or knows enough about the area
to give me some ideas on what kind of photographic opportunities I
should be on the lookout for while I'm out there. I understand that
everything out in that part of the country is on a scale largely
unimaginable to greenhorns like myself, but I'm planning on taking my
bike with me on the off-chance there are reasonably accessible
destinations within a bike-ride from where I'll be staying.

Any pointers and tips would be greatly appreciated. I may never have
this opportunity again, so I want to make the most of the time I have
while I'm out there.

Thanks for any guidance anyone can offer!
