I don't recongize the piece of glass, but I'll take a wild guess that it's 600mm. I'm rather curious to see what sort of photos you get with it. If you can't find any cooperative birds, how about a shot of the moon? I find it to be a very handy test subject for long glass.

If I did the math right the angle of view on that combination will be something like .75ยบ on the diagonal. There are craters on the Moon that will be too big to use as a target.
