There were at least two possible scenarios:

1) I say, "you don't need another bag, we're drowning in bags at home, we came 
here to buy shoes, dammit!"

result: she buys the bag anyway and is really pissed off with me and I pay for 
it for the rest of the weekend.

2) I say, "That's a really nice bag, quite unlike anything else you have at 
home. Let me buy it for you!"

result:  she's happy, I'm happy.

I chose door number two.

Nicely framed self portrait, especially for "shoot from the hip".

I don't know anything about women, but even I know that shopping for 
shoes has absolutely nothing to do with actually *buying* shoes. I hope 
she likes the handbag, because if she doesn't it's going to be your fault.
