I'm not sure I'd call most of them particularly surprising (although
both the owl imprint, and the final image, do qualify on that score).

But, that said, I particularly liked the Christchurch rail tracks
and the moonlight shot of the oak tree in the Salton Sea.

The Salton Sea is itself basically an eco-disaster. It was formed when a dam broke and the low lying areas got flooded. I've been down there a couple times with my friend Candice, and posted shots from those trips.
