I was in one of the Porter's camera shops in Iowa this summer, and they had a pencil holder made out of a real lens... Or at least the outer casing of a a real lenses.Don't remember what it was except it was not Pentax and was a consumer grade zoom - maybe a 100-300 f 4-5.6. You'have to fish a bit for a pen if they had used a 300 f 2.8. Though a 400 f 2.8 might make a nice spittoon.

Recently received one similar 24 to 105mm - quite a hoot. More than one person thought it was an actual lens. I was dismayed when I started to unwrap the package and noticed the 'Cannon" box.

Realistic down to the markings and the rubber grips where the zoom & focus rings would be - even the lens cap appears authenitic.
