Set X on the mode dial. This is what mine does.

I'm trying some things out with my new ring flash adapter. I want my AF-540 in manual mode.

Unless I have the shoe tightened way down, it won't go into anything but p-ttl and sb. Once I crank down on the mount I can get it to go into M, but as soon as I start to press the shutter, it goes into p-ttl.

Is there any way to put an AF-540 into manual mode, so that it stays?
