There's also a custom function you have to set. If the lens doesn't have an 'A' position, the shutter won't release unless the function is set to permit the shutter release when using the aperture ring.

You never will.  K lenses do not have data pins, and are completely
manual.  You set the aperture by turning the aperture ring.

You need to shoot in M mode and use the Green button to meter.
