I have a CF or two set up to light my dance floor at night. Tonight the deep shadows in the redwood bark on the trees at the end of the dance floor caught my eye, and I was curious how the scene would photograph. Rather than setting up real lights, I just put the K-5 on the tripod and used the light I had. I had no idea of what would be the best balance of shutter speed (minimizing motion blur in case the dance floor moves) and sensor noise. So I decided to bracket. I didn't do a multi variable, also bracketing f/stops (much).
On the off chance that anyone on this list is nerdy enough to find this interesting, I posted both a full resolution of the scene, and the same tight crop. http://www.fluidr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157628934565351/ I think that quality seems to peak somewhere between ISO 200 and 400, depending on whether the particular scene needs more dynamic range, or depth of field, but I'd appreciate other people's thoughts on the subject. -- Larry Colen [email protected] sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
