Thanks, Brian and David, for looking and commenting. Yes, they are laid back compared to mainland protestors. Maui is more laid back than Honolulu and the rest of Oahu, if somewhat faster paced than Kaua'i, Lana'i, Moloka'i and the Big Island.
The "Kill Monsanto" slogan is a bit over the top, though. It has a facility near the protest site, and makes fertilizer, which is opposed by some of the greens out here. They also are targeting genetically modified food products, which the agriculture industry here strongly favors.
