It breaks on of the basic rules of composition in that you try and get the subject to look into the picture and the viewers eye follows the direction they are looking in.

That what makes it intriguing.

Using the rule of thirds principle the empty table and chair are also in position of visual significance.

This raises another question, what is important about them and why is the woman ignoring them, and what is out the window?

Of course there are no answers in the picture,so viewers are drawn into the image to make up their own answers.
