Maybe Larry will like it (he's a bit weird)

Most people wouldn't qualify that with "a bit".

but it's way too blown out to me.

A lot of the highlights in the original were a bit too blown out for my taste, that's what gave me the idea. Another way that I'm weird is that I don't like it when portraits lose detail in the skin.

The original was exquisite, this one not so much.

Very definite concepts. The first version is a great photo, the second is more along the lines of what I'd consider "graphic art".

Imho.

Btw, just joking, Larry - but you knew that, didn't you?

I just figured that you were a bit Canadian.

:-)

Besides, this list would be a bit boring if we all liked the same things.

Funny thing is, that even though it wasn't what I originally had in mind, as this version has been sitting up on my screen, it's been growing on me. I'd almost suggest bringing a little detail back into the blown out side of her face. But I still think that a lot of the white speckles that aren't Elle, or her reflection on the table should go away.

;-)

cheers,
frank

Hey Larry, how about this: http://goo.gl/sxele ?

I made myself a LR3 Photo Graphic preset after absorbing Par
Lunqvist's book on the subject.
"Photographics: Line and Contrast Methods", 1972/1973.

Pretty kewl result if I don't say so myself. Thanks for the suggestion.

No problem, Frank, a few fog-free photos will follow shortly.

Interesting composition. Since you've already got the high contrast thing
going with it, it would be fun to see what would happen if you went all
kodalith on it. Crank up the contrast, and the blacks slider and twiddle
the exposure etc until all you have left is black and white.
