There's no way on God's little green earth that an auto manufacturer is going to "open up" any part of the system that could compromise vehicle and occupant safety, beyond the effects of distraction, which is serious enough by itself. So if they're going for "open" on the infotainment system, you can bet your bottom dollar it can't directly affect the safety and performance of the engine, trans, brake, etc.
