I haven't had a chance to use stacking software to make a composite of multiple star photos, nor have I had a chance to use photoshop's stitching abilities to combine a sharp foreground from a straight tripod shot, with sharp stars from an astrotracer shot. Also, it turns out that the night sky, even before moonrise, in Joshua Tree National park is nowhere near as dark as I expected or hoped. I sincerely hope that once I learn what I'm doing, I'll be able to do a lot better with the K-5 and astrotracer.
I'm posting these photos as kind of a baseline, in case you're thinking of playing with the K-5 at night, out in the desert or something. In lightroom, I diddled with the curves, exposure and such, so they aren't as bad as it gets, but they certainly aren't as good as it gets. I'm using fluidr as the link because it shows ISO, these shots vary from ISO 640-12,800 http://www.fluidr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157629313109193/ -- Larry Colen [email protected] sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
