Hi Len, thanks for "correction" but in Latin the right word is actually "declinatio" for "bending", (= declension), I can't be held responsible for English guys messing up the language, no? :-) Anyway, if one takes declination as astronomical term it means almost the same as in grammatical sense (the bending, angle under which the object is seen, IIRC). "Declension" seems to me like an ugly hybrid. Why can't you use the from latin declination for declensions ;-)

Many words in all languages are pretty messed up in their origin, from mistakes long past and similar reasons.
