Hello Walt and Christine, some misinformation here. The Charger that comes with the higher end Pentax DSLRs - K-5, K-7, K-20D, K10D etc, have a built in full charge sensing circuit. This circuit switches off the charger, and the charging LED will also switch off when the battery reaches full charge. Try inserting a fully charged battery again in the charger. The charging LED will glow momentarily and will switch off - in less than half a second. You can never overcharge a L-ion battery pack - unless both the charger and the battery are bad. Note also, all L-ion battery packs have a special circuit inside. Without it, or if defective the battery can catch fire and explode. This circuit does two things: a) does not allow a sudden high current withdrawal from the battery - causes overheating and fire, b) prevents the battery being charged beyond 8.48 volts, the critical limit, over which the L-ion cell can explode. I think some one has floated the myth about L-ion battery packs and "mirror flop" in the K-5. If it happens, me think the camera is to blame and the Pentax - Ricoh Co. Bipin - from a far away enchanting land
